Ubah Advocates Digital Networking Solutions In Tackling Anambra Insecurity

The candidate of the Labour Party in the coming governorship election, Ifeanyi Ubah has advocated for a digital mode of security to curb the challenges faced by the state.

“I sincerely believe that we really need to go into digital solution for Anambra insecurity” he said while fielding questions during the Town Hall Conversation organised by Channels Television in the state.

He added that “What we need to do is to network Anambra state” wondering what “the contributions of the telecommunication companies are to Anambra state” and insists that “it is time we ask that question”.

He warned that the telecommunication companies must begin to worry about the “radiation issues, the environmental impact assessment of the communities” maintaining that “we have not been benefitting from all these telecommunication companies”.

He promised to go into that line, if elected, and negotiate with them. He also went philosophical quoting what “the Americans call the Act of War; when you are equal, you negotiate. If you are weaker, you retreat. If you are stronger, you oppress” revealing that “that is what I am going to use”.

He further harped on the need to generate funds for the state from the companies, whom according to him make N30 billion monthly while the state receives only N3.2 billion from the federal government.

He noted the 4.6 million GSM users in the state spend between N500 to N1, 000 on recharge cards daily.

He however reduced the daily spending to N100 and calculated that the companies make N460 million daily and over N12bilion monthly.

The digital network system, according to him, will rid the state of armed robbers and kidnappers because “before you push a button, the entire community is at alert” insisting that “that is a prototype that I will use in Anambra state”.

He further promised to establish a state-owned mobile operator that will generate the equivalent of the revenue generated by the telecommunication companies if they fail to comply with the digital networking policies he intends to implement if voted into office.
