A member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Ike Chidolue has said that the call by the All Progressives Congress (APC) to  block the 2014 budget  is not a “PDP matter” but affects the non -partisan and partisan in the country.

He said that the budget is the life wire of every nation, therefore the budget is not a PDP matter, “by holding the life wire of the nation, you are holding the people captive”.

He described the directive from the APC to block the 2014 budget as a means of forcing President Goodluck Jonathan to intervene in the crisis in Rivers State.

He insisted that the lawmakers in the National Assembly are not in the House because of APC but are there representing their wards.

Mr. Chidolue also accused the serving governor of Rivers state, Chibuike Amaechi, of disobeying the National Judicial Council by removing  the chairman of Obiakpor local government, and was instructed by the court to reinstate the chairman. He referred to such act as “impunity”

“Impunity is when a chairman of a local government is undemocratically removed based on the whims and caprices of the governor and when the court has passed a judgement on the matter and says reinstate the chairman, and the governor flouts the order,” he said.

He maintained that the crisis in Rivers state is blown out of proportion, emphasising that the real issues of the state is tackling the removal of the chairman of Obiakpor local government.

Mr. Chidolue, speaking on Channels Television breakfast programme, Sunrise Daily, commented on the case of Senator Magnus Abe, stating that the Senator who was allegedly shot should have been taken to a hospital first, for treatment, and not a church before being flown abroad.

He also demanded that the medical report recommended for the Senator to be treated abroad and the medical report of the hospital where he is receiving treatment, be made public.

Ahead of the 2015 elections, Mr Chidolue said that the elections will be peaceful across the country contrary to reports of violence that has been predicted.
