The Delta State Governor, Emmanuel Uduaghan, says 960 locked-up stalls are ready for use at the Sapele Township Market in Sapele Local Government Area.
Addressing traders after inspecting the on-going construction work at the Sapele Main Market, the Dr Uduaghan said that the state government was determined to complete all ongoing projects meant to enhance the business and investment environment of the state and improve the economy.
The main market was engulfed by fire over five years ago and have left traders with no other choice than to sell on the major road which had caused traffic and untold hardship for the residents of this community in the past. The market is now almost completed.
During an inspection visit to the Market, the State Governor appealed to the traders to evacuate the major road to the market to enable rehabilitation work to continue while urging the traders to be patient and maintain peace in the market.
The commissioner for housing who is in charge of the project, Mr Paulinus Akpeki, took the Governor on a tour round the market where he pointed out that the market had 1,520 locked-up and open stalls with 960 already completed.
There is hope for the traders especially for the traders that previously had stalls in the burnt market as they have been assured they would be given priority in the allocation when fully completed.
