Chibok Girls Rescue: Campaigners Say Government Not Doing Enough

The ‘Bring Back Our Girls’campaign group says the Nigerian government is not not doing enough to ensure the safe return of the over 200 girls abducted on April 14 from their school dormitory in Chibok, Borno State, by members of a terrorist group, Boko Haram.

Conveners of the campaign on Friday lamented the pace of effort to rescue the girls who they said had stayed for so long.

As usual, the campaigners gathered at their usual Unity Fountain in Abuja and like ever before, said that “the Federal Government has a nonchalant attitude towards the rescue effort and feared for the fate of the girls if nothing is done urgently”.

The group vowed to continue the sit-out and demanded the safe return of the girls.

The President Goodluck Jonathan led government has accused the group of staging the protest with an ulterior motive against the government, asking them to channel their protest to the terrorist group.

The terrorist group in a video of the girls released days after their abduction demanded for a swap with their members held at different detention camps across Nigeria.
