
A truce was reached after a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed at the end of a meeting between the Minister and the leadership of the Union in Abuja on Saturday.
The judiciary workers’ had embarked on a nationwide strike since July 11 to demand that all state governments comply with an order of the Federal High Court, Abuja, that all allocations meant for state judiciary should be paid directly to heads of state courts.
The MoU states that state governments are obliged to respect the provision of the 1999 Constitution as amended and comply with the judgement of the court.
According to a statement made available to Channels Television, the president of the Nigerian Labour Congress, Comrade Abdulwaheed Omar; President of Judiciary Workers’ Union, Comrade Mustapha Adamu and representatives of the ministry of labour signed the MoU.
