OgunMembers of the Ogun State House of Assembly have disagreed over the proposed 2billion Naira Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) Micro Small and Medium Enterprise Scheme Fund.

Lawmakers numbering 13 out of the 26 members of the House are opposing the acquisition of the development fund.

The 13 members, believed to be against the fund, hinged their opposition on the premise that due process was not followed by House members while deliberation on the issue was raised.

In a swift reaction, the other group, said to be receiving the blessings of the State Government, however, said that it has not violated any existing financial instrument law of the state and that the fund must be accessed for the benefit of the people of the state

Briefing newsmen after the plenary session where the issue of the CBN Development Fund was said to have been raised, the Chairman of the House Committee on Land and Housing, Mr Remmy Hazzan, speaking on behalf of the 13 members opposing the fund, alleged that the 2/3 majority requisition by the Assembly law was not followed.

He affirmed his group’s refusal to support the accession of the 2billion Naira, owing to their demand that the proper process be followed.

However, in another press briefing, the group of assembly men in support of the idea, denied any wrongdoing in the decision taken over the proposed development fund.

According to the Chairman of the House Committee on Finance and Appropriation, Bankole Olusola, and the Committee Chairman On Information, Olayinka Ojodu, the group maintained that the resolution remained passed and would be forwarded to the Central Bank of Nigeria for further action.
