oyo stateThe new Commissioner of Police in charge of Oyo State Command, Mr. Muhammed Musa Katsina, has warned candidates in the forthcoming election and their supporters against acts and statements capable of inciting violence.

The commissioner gave the warning during a familiarization visit to the Governor of the State, Mr Abiola Ajimobi, at the Governor’s Office, in Ibadan, on Monday.

Katsina replaced Mr. Kola Sodipo, who was recently deployed out of Oyo State.

He warned that no politician is too big to be brought to justice, adding that the command would not spare any effort at ensuring the sustenance of the pervading peace and security across the State.

Katsina, who applauded the prevailing peace and political maturity of the governor, admonished parents and guardians to warn their children and wards against being used to forment trouble before, during and after the forthcoming elections.

In his response, the governor acknowledged that the police had been playing a huge role in the maintenance of peace and security in Oyo State, especially through their contributions to the State Security Outfit, Codenamed ‘Operation Burst’.

Ajimobi expressed optimism that the new police chief and his officers have the capability to suppress any uprising of violence that might arise during the electioneering and promised all necessary government assistance.
