Osun Poll: Ex-PDP Factional Leader Emerges SPD Chairman

sdpThe Ogun state chapter of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) has attributed its failure at the just concluded polls to the alleged damaging social media report that its governorship candidate, Mr Akin Odunsi had withdrawn from the governorship race a day before the election.

The party said the action had damaging effects on party members.

Chairman of the party in the state, Mr Olu Agemo, made the declaration at a press briefing attended by party members in Abeokuta, the Ogun state capital.

While congratulating Senator Ibikunle Amosun on his re-election, the party however debunked allegations in some quarters that the party was being sponsored by the Presidency, to destabilize the politics of the south west.

The SDP had denied any merger plan with any political party before the governorship election took place on April 11.
