
Speaking to reporters in Kaduna on Saturday during a send forth organized in his honor by the Kaduna Diocese, Bishop Fearon, who has been appointed as the Secretary General of World Anglican Communion in Canterbury, described the commotion in the National Assembly as a sad point in the country’s democratic journey and a derail from the main reason why they were elected by their people.
He faulted the APC lawmakers for not abiding by their party’s position for the appointment of principal officers of both chambers, stating that the lawmakers were all elected on the party’s platform and therefore should respect its decision at all times.
Also speaking, a former member of the National Assembly, Senator Tunde Ogbeha, faulted the APC lawmakers for disobeying the party’s directive, describing their action as the highest level of lawlessness and insubordination.
He called on them to respect the views and decisions of the party which he noted is supreme than their individual ambitions, since none of them were elected independently.
He also tasked the party leadership to devise a mechanism of resolving their internal problems and prayed that the crisis at the National Assembly would be amicably resolved by the members to enable Nigeria move forward.
Bishop Josiah Idowu Fearon, was appointed the Bishop of Sokoto Diocese in 1990, and later transferred to Kaduna Arch Diocese in 1997.
He is the first African to occupy the seat of Secretary General of World Anglican Communion.
