Rivers ASUP Commends State For Salaries’ Payment, Seeks Better Infrastructure

Members of the Academic Staff Union of Polytechnics (ASUP) in Rivers State have commended the State government for the payment of salaries owed workers, but decried the poor state of infrastructures in the institution.

They also called for the upgrade of the institution from polytechnic to university, emergence of the next rector and the high spate of insecurity in the state.

The Rivers State government had few days ago paid the three months salary arrears it was owing lectures.

With a population of about 5,000 students, they believe the security of the environment and adequate infrastructural development would enable quality learning and a peaceful environment.
