Governor Ayade gave the order when he paid an unscheduled visit to Ministries in Calabar, the Cross River State Capital to have a first-hand knowledge on how diligent heads of the ministries and other civil servants have been towards their official responsibilities.
Accompanied by the Deputy Governor, Prof Ivara Esu, Secretary to the State Government, Mrs. Tina Agbor, and Acting Head of Service, Mr. Ekpenyong Henshaw, Mr Ayade was shocked to discover that most senior officers were not in their offices.
Upset by their absenteeism and negligence to duty, the governor relayed how disappointment he was especially at this period where he expected their full support towards actualizing the economic agenda of his administration.
He thereby directed that disciplinary action be taken against the erring staff to serve as a deterrent to others.
