At the resumed hearing of the petition on Monday, the Governor and his party, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), presented their last witness who testified that the governorship election was generally peaceful as voters whose cards were not read by the card readers were allowed to use the manual voters’ register for accreditation.
Lawyer to the PDP, Mr Tayo Oyetibo, informed the Tribunal that he had no intention of presenting additional witnesses.
At the end of the proceedings, it appeared the Lawyer to the petitioner and the Attorney General of Akwa Ibom State, Uwemedimo Nwoko, differed on their expectations of the outcome of the Tribunal.
With a request for an adjournment by the lawyer to the Independent National Electoral Commission to enable it present her witnesses, the Tribunal adjourned hearing till Tuesday, October 15, for continuation of defence.
