Another deadly attack occurred in Ogufa Village in Loko Development Area of Nasarawa State, a lawmaker representing Udege/Loko has said.

After the attack that took place on Tuesday morning, the Nasarawa State Government appealed to the Federal Government to deploy more security personnel to the state to help curb the intermittent ethnic crisis bedevilling the state.

Confirming the incident to Channels Television in Lafia, the capital of the state, after a closed door meeting with some members of the State Executive Council, the lawmaker, Mohammed Okpoku, said that the government was worried about the situation.

He said despite efforts by the government to restore peace, promote unity among the diverse ethnic groups in the state and to resettle those affected by previous attacks, there were still pockets of crisis across the state.

Although he could give the number of deaths recorded and the amount of property destroyed, he told Channels Television that security personnel had since been deployed to the area to ensure normalcy returned.

The Nasarawa State Commissioner of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Aliyu Tijjani, who is also from the affected area, decried the incessant attacks, saying “it is alarming”.

He also called for urgent intervention from the Federal Government.
