INECThe Labour Party has expressed disappointment at the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) over the delay in fixing a date for the indefinite postponement of the Okigwe North re-run elections in Imo State.

The State Chairman of the Labour Party, Chukwuemeka Osuji, on Saturday, expressed disappointment at INEC.

Addressing reporters at a news conference in Owerri, the capital of Imo state, Mr Osuji said that the postponement of the re-run elections by INEC was unfortunate and appalling.

He noted that all parties were prepared, had spent a huge sum of money and were battle ready to go to the field, but unfortunately, the election was postponed indefinitely.

Leading some other political parties in the press conference, Mr Osuji urged the leadership of INEC to quickly fix a new date for the re-run elections even though the 90 days given by the court for the elections had elapsed.

Meanwhile, the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the election, Senator Athan Achonu, said that the security operatives in the state should live up to expectations so that when INEC fixes a new date, they can ensure its free and fair.
