cattle breedersThe National Secretary, Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association, Baba Othman Ngelzarma, has called for the perpetrators of the Enugu killings to be brought to book.

Speaking on Channels Television’s Sunrise Daily on Thursday, he said that such persons were criminals that must not be allowed to go unpunished.

Mr Ngelzarma advocated the need for the grazing bill put before the National Assembly as this would help curb the violence between herdsmen and indigenes.

He urged the National Assembly to focus on the grazing bill before focusing on the communal clashes.

He noted that most of the herdsmen get their livelihood from rearing of cattle but the neglect from the National Assembly is making the herdsman to spread to other parts of the country which he said is exposing them to danger.

Arguing that the grazing bill has been neglected, Mr Ngelzarma blamed the past administration for not paying attention to the grazing reserves and for the kidnap of some herdsmen.

He also stated that there had been many cases of Fulani herdsmen being killed or kidnapped, especially in Kaduna but these incidents were not reported. He criticized the media for not reporting such.

Mr Ngelzarma further expressed his displeasure at the light in which the cattle-rearers are seen and also blamed the media for it.
