FCT To Set Up Model Grazing Reserve

The Federal Capital Administration is planning to set up a model grazing reserve in Nigeria’s capital, Abuja, to check increasing herdsmen attacks on communities.

At an event on Saturday, the Federal Capital Territory’s Minister, Mr Mohammed Bello, explained that if successful, the reserve would be suggested to the Federal Government and could be replicated in other parts of Nigeria.

He also encouraged herders to remain on the portion of lands marked as grazing reserves when set up.

Several attacks have occurred in different communities across Nigeria carried out by armed herdsmen.

The latest of such attacks occurred in Ekiti State on Friday, leaving one person dead and five others injured.
