At least 35 people have been arrested after supporters and opponents of Republican US presidential nominee, Donald Trump, clashed in the city of San Diego, California.

Police say the gathering outside the city’s convention centre was unlawful.

Mr Trump was in the city near the Mexican border to hold a rally ahead of the June 7 primary in California.

He has pledged to build a border wall to keep out illegal immigrants.

The BBC says the fights widened, as the convention centre emptied sequel to the American billionaire’s rally.

His supporters and opponents met in the streets, jeering and heckling each other.
