The Acting General Officer Commanding Three Division Nigerian Army, Brigadier General Elvis Njoku, told participants at a workshop for military personnel in Jos on Monday that such skill, if properly acquired, would reduce collateral damage in operational missions across the nation.

Maxwell Khobe Cantonment, Headquarters of Three Division of Nigerian Army, is hosting military and para-military personnel including participants drawn from security agencies and human rights organisations on operations planning cadre.

It is held to refresh officers’ minds on skills and technique in both joint and single service operational planning process.

The week long workshop is in compliance with Army Headquarters directive in updating and retraining officers to enable them take effective part in counter insurgency operations and joint multinational operations.

In his presentation, Colonel Abdulraham Kuliya, took participants on ‘intelligence preparation of the battle field’, with various steps required for intelligence gathering for operations.

No fewer than 18 topical issues on various subjects of operational planning process are to be discussed during the one week seminar aimed at improving the skills and techniques of officers under the three division’s area of responsibility.
