
President of the Confederation of African Football (CAF), Ahmad Ahmad, has defended the decision of Africa’s football governing body to select Morocco as new hosts of the 2018 African Nations Championship.
In an exclusive interview aired on Channels Television Sports This Morning, Mr Ahmad said there was no special preference for hosting the competition.

He added that only Morocco was fully ready to host the tournament compared to the other two contenders – Equatorial Guinea and Ethiopia.
“We withdrew it from Kenya and we looked for another country who can host it and who can give the best competition. We decide Morocco is better than Equatorial Guinea,” the CAF President said.
Ahmad further thanked other countries that expressed their interest to host the competition, adding that the football body had “no sentiment to decide Morocco will host the championship of African next year.”
