
President Muhammadu Buhari has directed the Minister of Heath, Professor Isaac Adewole, to investigate the reports of an ‘unknown disease’ in Jigawa State.
According to a statement issued on Wednesday by the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu, the disease has led to the death of several children in the state.
The statement added that the disease was reported in Gidan Dugus village of Wangara district in Dutse Local Government Area of Jigawa State.
President Buhari also asked Professor Adewole to deploy all the necessary machinery to combat the outbreak of the disease.
He had commiserated with the state governor, Abubakar Badaru, and families of the victims during a telephone call to the governor on Tuesday to find out the details of the incident.
The President assured the governor that the Federal Government would provide the necessary support to contain the spread of the disease.
