Troops of Operation Lafiya Dole on Monday foiled at attempted attack by suspected Boko Haram terrorists around Molai area, on the outskirts of Maiduguri, Borno State.

The terrorists were said to have come along with Improvised Explosives Devices (IEDs) and gun trucks to steal foodstuff and also attack the troops but were unsuccessful as they were repelled quickly.

A statement signed by the Theatre Commander, Operation Lafiya Dole, Major General Rogers Nicholas, on Tuesday said no lives were lost and normalcy has since been restored to the area.

The Theatre Commander, however, noted that during their retreat, two vehicles were set on fire and some thatched houses at the outskirts of the city gate were burnt.

Both ground troops and the Nigerian Air Force are on hot pursuit for the fleeing terrorists, the statement added.
