The Oyo State Government says thousands of students between the ages of 10 and 16 will benefit from the Airbus Little Engineer (ALE) robotics programme, which will be done in conjunction with the Airbus Foundation together with its partner, the Little Engineer.

The programme, according to the government, is part of the Oyo State Model Education System Interventions (OYOMESI) initiative.

Special Adviser to Governor Abiola Ajimobi of Education, Dr. Bisi Akin-Alabi, noted that the training workshop will be held at five flagship schools starting from the Anglican Commercial Grammar School on Thursday, February 8, 2018 between 10am and 2pm.

He explained that the goal of the workshop is to encourage students to understand and embrace technology as well as ignite a passion that could grow into an exciting career.

Akin-Alabi added that it will also help to prepare the state for a knowledge-based future and make it a hub for producing knowledgeable competent workforce.

Other objectives according to him are that the students will be allowed to create their own algorithm to develop a problem-solving robot.

The beneficiaries will be trained in the fields of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM)
