Borno State Governor, Kashim Shettima, has called on the military to adopt a holistic approach in the war against terrorism.

Shettima made the call on Wednesday during the Chief of Army Staff (COAS) 2018 annual conference in Maiduguri, the Borno State capital on Wednesday.

“I want to congratulate the Nigerian Army and I believe that the crème de la crème assembly here consolidate on your ideas and come out with robust platforms of addressing our poor challenges.

“The problems of Boko Haram are complex, composite and interwoven. And for us to solve the problem, there is a need for a holistic approach in combating the security challenges,” he said.

The governor blamed the terrorist activities in the north-east on poverty in the region that shares a boundary with the Lake Chad.

The governor said he is optimistic that the insurgency in the region can best be tackled by proper education of the populace.
