The Senate has commenced the screening of the ministerial nominees which was sent on Tuesday by President Muhammadu Buhari for confirmation.

The first nominee being screened is Uchechukwu Ogah from Abia State.

Ministerial Nominee Uchechukwu Ogah (Abia state)

Mr Ogah during his screening said that the nation does not need to depend on oil in creating job opportunities for the teeming population.

He is of the opinion that developing the agricultural sector will also help reduce the unemployment rate in the country.

“We don’t need to depend on only oil. Yes, oil is a cash-cow. But I believe that if we develop our agricultural sector, we can equally develop, create jobs for our teeming youths”.

George Akume (Benue State)

Senator George Akume was a former governor of Benue State and a minority leader in the Senate.

He was told to take a bow and leave this according to the Senate is a tradition for members of the upper chamber during a ministerial screening.

Godswill Akpabio (Akwa Ibom)

Senator Godwill Akpabio is a former governor of Akwa Ibom State and has served as a minority leader in the Senate.

He was also asked to take a bow following the tradition in the Senate as a former Senator.

Emeka Nwajiuba (Imo)

Honourable Emeka Nwajiuba is a member of the House of Representatives and representing Imo State.

The serving lawmaker was also told to take a bow.

 

Rotimi Amaechi (Rivers)

Rotimi Amaechi is a former governor of Rivers State, he was advised to continue with his position as the Minister of Transportation.

 

Ogbonnaya Onu  (Ebonyi)

Ogbonnaya Onu who is representing Ebonyi State was a former Minister of Science and Technology.

 

Olamilekan Adegbite  (Ogun)

Mr Adegbite was a former Commissioner for Works in Ogun State.

 

Adeleke Mamora – Lagos State

Mr Mamora was a member of the Senate and also former Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly.

During his screening, he said he will invest more in water transportation.

 

Sharon Ikaezor (Anambra)

Sharon Ikaezor who is representing Anambra State was part of the nominees that were asked to take a bow.

 

Adamu Adamu (Bauchi)

Adamu Adamu was a former Minister for Education representing Bauchi State.

He decried the high rate of out of school children and urged the legislature to intervene in the situation.
