No fewer than 15 persons have lost their lives in a road accident in Agulu town of Anambra State.
The incident occurred when a lorry carrying iron beams lost control while descending the hilly road near the Agulu lake and rammed into three oncoming commercial vehicles.
While inspecting the scene of the accident, Governor Willie Obiano regretted the unfortunate incident that left at least five persons dead.
Obiano who blamed the accident on the over-speeding of the truck driver promised to construct a barrier and speed breakers to avoid a recurrence of such in the future.
“I have been fully briefed of the cause of the accident. The big truck loaded with iron metals apparently failed brake and with that speed collided with two buses at the opposite direction.
“There are some casualties; I am yet to be fully informed of the number. So what we are going to do to stop this is to put a barrier before tomorrow so that we can divert the bigger truck to the other side.
“This place is a very good, smooth road as you can see. So they run as if (they are being pursued). So we are going to put speed breakers too and do a big barrier so that they can go the other way,” he said.
