The Cross River State Government has asked the Federal Government, the Presidential Task Force Team, and the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) to urgently provide the state with COVID-19 testing and isolation centre.

This follows the second wave of the pandemic.

The appeal is followed by the looting and vandalization of the State’s owned testing and 120 beds isolation center by angry youths as a result of the aftermath of the ENDSARS protest in the State.

Addressing Journalist at the state’s Ministry of Health, the Commissioner for Health, Dr. Betta Edu said the need is prompt as those who vandalised the testing Center made away with COVID-19 samples, thereby putting their lives and those of others at risk.
