Buhari Visits Lagos, Inaugurates Project

The vessel was made by the Nigerian Navy.

 

President Muhammadu Buhari is in Lagos State for a one-day visit during which he inaugurated a locally made Seaward Defence Boat (SDB) 111.

It is the third of its series to be built by the Nigerian Navy, according to a statement by a presidential aide, Femi Adesina.

‘‘We should note that we are in a critical period where our country is faced with a serious decline in our revenue and the security challenges we are facing,” Buhari added, urging the personnel to make good use of the platforms.

“Let me assure you that the Government will continue to support the ideals of the Nigerian Navy in the performance of its constitutional duties. God bless the Nigerian Navy, God bless the Federal Republic of Nigeria. Onward Together,” he added during the

Buhari says his government is committed to supporting the Nigerian Navy.

 

Aside from the inauguration of the vessel, Buhari will also attend the book launch of a former Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Bisi Akande.

Earlier, the Nigerian leader, who arrived at the Presidential Lounge of the Murtala Muhammed Airport, was received by Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State and other officials.

Buhari says the Nigerian Navy is a major contributor to the country’s economy.

Prior to Thursday’s visit, the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) had issued a traffic advisory to commuters.

In the statement, LASTMA noted that the “Ahmadu Bello Way, from Adeola Odeku Intersection to Adetokunbo Ademola by Eko Hotels Roundabout will be temporarily closed to traffic and traffic diverted to Adeola Odeku, Akin Adesola to connect to [any] desired destination.

 

“Akin Adesola connecting Ahmadu Bello Way by IMB will be temporarily closed to traffic and traffic will be diverted to Oyin Jolayemi, Oko Awo, and Sanusi Fafunwa to connect desired destinations.

“From Ozumba Mbadiwe (Civic Centre) to Adetokunbo Ademola to Eko Hotels Roundabout traffic will be temporarily diverted after Eko Hotels Roundabout to
i) Ajose Adeogun,
ii) Sanusi Fafunwa or
iii) back to Civic Centre to connect destination.”

It noted that  “all adjoining streets/feeder roads leading to Ahmadu Bello Way from Adeola Odeku Intersection, as well as those leading to Eko Hotels, from Adetokunbo Ademola Roundabout (Eko Hotels Roundabout), will be temporarily closed to traffic from early hours of the day on Thursday, 9th December, 2021.”
