…APC dares PDP to show evidence as police commence probe
Three persons were reportedly injured after suspected political thugs attacked the campaign train of the governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party in Lagos State, Olajide Adediran, popularly known as Jandor.
It was gathered that the incident happened on Sunday evening at the Ikoga Junction area of Badagry Local Government.
PDP Publicity Secretary in Lagos, Hakeem Amode, confirmed the attack in a statement on Sunday, saying several members of the party and journalists sustained injuries.
One of the journalists, he stated, is in critical condition in an undisclosed hospital while those injured are been treated.

“The campaign train of the candidates of the Peoples Democratic Party was attacked today while returning from visitation to members of the party at the Ikoga Junction area of Badagry Local Government by All Progressives Congress sponsored thugs this evening,” he stated.
“The attack led to injuries of several members of Jandor’s entourage and pressmen. As of the time of this press statement, one of the news reporters is in critical condition in an undisclosed hospital while those injured are been treated.
“The thugs that attack the campaign train were shouting APC while shooting guns and using dangerous weapons.
The PDP spokesman in Lagos also called on the Lagos Commissioner of Police, Abiodun Alabi, Area Commander of Police in the Badagry Division to do everything possible to fish out those behind the attack.
Show Evidence, APC Dares PDP
APC Chairman in Lagos, Cornelius Ojelabi, challenged the PDP to come up with any evidence that his party attacked Jandor’s convoy.
Ojelabi also said members of the APC in the state are peace-loving people who won’t disrupt opposition’s rallies or attack them.
“How many registered political parties do we have? Is it only PDP and APC that are political parties registered in Nigeria? Is it only PDP and APC that are contesting the upcoming elections in Lagos State? So, why should anyone come up, if they are attacked, that it is APC that attacked them,” he told Channels Television on Monday.
“If they (PDP) has any evidence to show that their convoy was attacked by APC, let them come forward. To the best of our knowledge, nothing of such happened.
“We are the ruling party in Lagos State, why would we want to disrupt the peaceful co-existence in Lagos? I know my members and we don’t have such characters as far as my members are concerned.”
Police Commence Probe
The Police Public Relations Officer in Lagos, Benjamin Hundeyin, told Channels Television on Monday that investigation has commenced into the said incident but no official report has been made on the said incident by the PDP.
“Policemen went to the scene to confirm but nothing was found there. As it stands, we are expecting them (PDP members) to avail us with all the information they have about the attack to assist us in our information.
“We have commenced investigation into this but we are yet to get details from the victims of the attack,” he said.
