Ikare-Akoko, the headquarters of the Akoko North East Local Government Area of Ondo State is in pandemonium following a crisis that erupted between two rival youth groups, during the youth carnival celebrations in the town.
Several gunshots were reported to have rent the air while residents scamper for safety.
Channels Television gathered that the crisis started on Tuesday evening after a disagreement between the two groups.

A source in the community disclosed that the clash in which many were injured may not be unconnected to a power tussle between a monarch, the Olukare of Ikare, Oba Akadiri Momoh and a community head, the Olokoja of Okoja, Chief Idowu Ogunye.
The spokesperson for the Ondo State Police Command, SP Funmilayo Odunlami-Omisanya confirmed the incident. She noted that the two warring factions have been asked to put an end to the clash.
