Following the adoption of final written addresses by parties at the Ebonyi state governorship election petition tribunal sitting in Abuja, party stakeholders are reacting to the latest developments in the state.
Ifeanyi Odii of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and Bernard Odo of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) are challenging the victory of Governor Francis Nwifuru for the March 18 governorship poll in the state declared by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
They are alleging irregularities during the governorship poll and that Governor Nwifuru was not a member of the APC at the time of the election.
In his reaction, the Chairman of the APC in Ebonyi State, Stanley Okoro-Emegha, expressed confidence in the judiciary to deliver a judgment that will serve the interest of democracy and Ebonyians, who came out to exercise their franchise on March the 18 governorship election.

He stated that Governor Nwifuru is focused on delivering good governance and cannot be distracted.
On his part, Abia Onyike, Director, Strategic Communication, PDP Ebonyi State, expressed his confidence in the judiciary as the last hope of the common man.
“I have my confidence in the Nigerian judiciary because in spite of a number of setbacks here and there, many of us have been beneficiaries of the progressive pronouncements of the Nigerian law courts.
“I want to believe that the judiciary remains the last hope of the common man and it is the most important institution that would continue to guide our democratic parties. Once the judiciary is found wanting then all hope would have been lost but I do not think that that would apply in the present circumstances,” Onyike said.
In the result declared by the INEC, Nwifuru polled 199,131 to defeat Ifeanyi Odii of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) who scored 80,191 and Ben Odo of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) who got 52,189.
