Suspected hoodlums on Thursday hijacked a protest in the Suleja area of Niger State, stealing food items from trailers on the highway.
The protesters had blocked the Kaduna-Abuja highway in the early hours of the day over the rising cost of food items in Nigeria.
But an eyewitness told Channels Television that the protest turned violent as suspected hoodlums hijacked trailers loaded with food items at the Suleja junction on the Abuja-Kaduna highway in Niger State.

However, soldiers from the Guards Brigade dispersed the suspected hoodlums while other security operatives restored normalcy to the area, allowing the free flow of vehicles.
