Sylvester Oromoni (Senior), father of the late 12-year-old student of Dowen College, Lagos, Sylvester Oromoni (Junior), has rejected the ruling of the Coroner on the circumstances surrounding the death of his son.
The coroner, Magistrate Mikhail Kadiri, in a judgment that lasted over six hours on Monday, said the deceased died a natural death and also held that the boy’s death which occurred on November 30, 2021, was avoidable as the negligence of the parents and the medical team also contributed to it.
He said the evidence gathered showed that the late Sylvester suffered “avoidable excruciating pain” due to parental and medical negligence, which led to his “needless” death.
However, the father of the late student, who was on Channels Television’s Sunrise Daily programme on Tuesday, said the ruling was the coroner’s opinion and not a “good judgement”.

My son died on the 30th day of November 2021. We’ve been in court for two years plus but the judgment given yesterday does not represent the true evidence given in court. I go to court every day. I’ve never missed any day.
