The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has been ordered by an Abuja High Court presided over by Justice M. M. Adamu to recognise Chris Imumolen as the National Chairman of Accord Party.
This directive is pending the hearing and determination of a suit filed by Imumolen and 12 other officials of the party against Maxwell Mgbudem and 13 others.

Ruling on a motion ex parte argued by Christopher Okonkwo, counsel to the applicants, the court ordered the defendants to stop parading themselves as the national executive committee of the Accord Party pending the determination of the substantive suit before the court.
The court also restrained the defendants from conducting any state, local government congress of the accord party.
Listed as defendants in the suit are Mgbudem, INEC, the Inspector General of Police, Department of State Services (DSS) and 10 others.
Hearing has been fixed for September 2, 2024.
