Veteran Nollywood Actor Emmanuel France Dies At 83

He was famous for his roles in Domitilla (1996) and The Curfew (2021).


 

Veteran Nollywood actor Emmanuel France has passed away at the age of 83.

Filmmaker Olufemi Ogendengbe took to his Instagram handle on Monday to announce the actors death.

Ogedengbe recalled how he travelled to Tanzania in 2006 with the deceased where they shot three films.

“Rest in peace to one of Nollywood legends. Uncle Emmanuel France, One of the actors I took to Tanzania in 2006 , Shot three movie with him ; Cross MY sin, She Is My Sister & THE Director. R.I.P”

France was born in 1941 Kano and started his acting journey in 1960. He was famous for his roles in Domitilla (1996) and The Curfew (2021). He appeared in over 200 films, including Sakobi and The Snake Girl.

He was notable for playing the role of an herbalist in Nollywood films as well as famous for his catchphrase ‘Tufancha,’ a word which he repeatedly used in the classic Nollywood film ‘Suicide Mission.’

The cause of his death is unknown.
