Kebbi State’s First Lady, Zainab Nasir Idris, has called on wives of local government chairmen to engage regularly with women at the grassroots to improve family living standards and ensure a safe society.
She said this during the inauguration of the Wives of Local Government Chairmen Association’s newly elected executive members in Birnin Kebbi.
Hajia Zainab emphasised the importance of regular interface with women at the grassroots to uplift living standards and charged the wives to ensure beneficial programmes were carried out. She also stressed the need for them to maintain trust by being trustworthy and keeping official secrets.

Additionally, the First Lady advised elected female councilors to make a positive impact on their communities, justifying the confidence reposed on them.
On her part, an All Progressives Congress (APC) Women Leader, Aisha Gunabi, encouraged the wives to ensure good governance and service delivery, serving as ambassadors of the First Lady in their respective local government areas.
This initiative is in line with the roles of first ladies in Nigeria who often focus on empowerment and community development.
