The Katsina State Governor Dikko Radda on Wednesday pledged to support efforts of the armed forces, the police, and other security agencies to ensure that the State regains its rightful place of a peaceful environment.
He further restated the commitment of his administration to remain resolute in its drive towards assisting the veterans in the Armed Forces to prevent and subsequently eliminate acts of banditry and criminality in the State.
The governor stated this during the 2025 Armed Forces Celebration and Remembrance Day held at the NYSC Orientation Camp, Mani Road Katsina, commending officers and men of the Armed Forces and other security agencies for their selfless service and sacrifice towards securing the lives and property of citizens in the state.

He therefore attributed the relative peace currently being enjoined in the state to the dedication, professional competence, and discipline of the troops and other security agencies.
January 15 every year is celebrated as Armed Forces Remembrance Day to mark the end of the country’s 30-month civil war which ended on January 15th, 1970.
The annual wreath-laying ceremony is also marked to honour members of the armed forces who paid the supreme price in the defence of the country.
Special prayers were offered for the repose of the souls of the departed fallen heroes and for peace to reign in the country after the tradition of pigeons’ release as a symbol of peace and unity.
During the ceremony, attended by dignitaries including the representatives of the Katsina and Daura Emirs, the state deputy governor, Faruk Jobe, several patients mostly residents of the neighboring communities, veterans, retirees, and pensioners received medical attention in the annual medical outreach conducted by the 17 Brigade of the Nigerian Army, Katsina.
