Ugandan-British model Eva Apio has denied claims that she was ever romantically involved with Nigerian Afrobeats star Asake, putting an end to months of speculation on social media.
The rumours reignited on Sunday after an X user shared a photo of the pair taken in Paris, where they had appeared in matching outfits. The user captioned the post, “Asake and his girlfriend, Eva Apio.”
The post quickly went viral, prompting reactions from fans who had long suspected the duo were an item.
However, Apio wasted no time shutting down the dating claims. In a swift and firm response to the viral post, the London-based model wrote, “I was never his girlfriend.”

The 24-year-old’s comment, though brief, reignited online debates, dividing social media users over the nature of her relationship with Asake. While some expressed surprise, others criticised the tendency to draw conclusions based on public appearances.

Dating Rumours
Dating rumours between the pair initially emerged in March 2025, when they were spotted together at the Paris Fashion Week dressed in matching Marine Serre outfits.
Their coordinated looks and seemingly close interactions fuelled talk of a possible romance.
Further fuelling speculation, Apio was seen using Asake’s songs —such as ‘Why Love’ — as background music in her Instagram videos, while many of her photos had also attracted likes and engagement from the singer.
Despite the mounting evidence fans believed pointed to a romantic connection, both parties remained silent—until now.
Previous Relationships
This is not the first time the model has been at the centre of dating rumours involving high-profile figures. She previously dated ‘Power’ actor Michael Rainey Jr. (2019–2020) and American footballer Owen Otasowie (2020–2021).
In 2020, she was also linked to Nigerian singer Davido, which she later debunked, clarifying that she only dated his associate, Tycoone.
Asake, on the other hand, has kept his love life largely private. He was previously linked to American socialite Madame Mystiquee (Isha Sankoh), with whom he reportedly parted ways in 2024.
Earlier in January 2025, he was also rumoured to be involved with American model India Love, but she later clarified that their interaction was strictly professional and related to a music video.
Despite continued speculation about his relationship with Apio, Asake has yet to comment on the matter.
With Apio’s recent denial, it appears the narrative around the pair may finally be put to rest—at least for now.
Apio, founder of the Eva Apio Foundation, has walked for major fashion brands like Louis Vuitton, Fendi, Off-White, Burberry, and ASOS.
She has also ventured into DJing and acting, with a recent role in ‘Off The Grid, a film project by American rapper P. Diddy.
The 24-year-old gained a strong following in Nigeria during the COVID-19 lockdown, thanks to her Instagram Live sessions with Father DMW, a Davido Music Worldwide affiliate.
