Nigeria, Uganda Airlines Partner To Cut Export Costs By Around 75%

The logistic costs cut will include regulatory charges with access to three key African hubs: Uganda, Kenya, and South Africa.

The Federal Government said it has partnered with Uganda Airlines to link Nigerian goods to the AfCFTA markets, to cut air cargo rates by up to 50-75 per cent.

The logistic costs cut will include regulatory charges with access to three key African hubs: Uganda, Kenya, and South Africa.

The announcement was made on Sunday by the Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment, Dr. Jumoke Oduwole, via her official X (formerly Twitter) account.

“We flag off a bold new pathway connecting Nigerian goods to the AfCFTA market through a strategic partnership with Uganda Airlines. The new air corridor will provide Nigerian exporters with access to three key African hubs, Uganda, Kenya, and South Africa,” she said.

Oduwole noted that the AfCFTA tariffs are now gazetted to unlock lower rates for Nigerian exporters.

With the inaugural flights launched on Sunday, the corridor supports exporting of textiles, bags, cosmetics, agro-products and more.
