The Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service has rescued a 56-year-old man who became trapped inside an 80-foot-deep well over the weekend.
In a statement posted on its official X handle on Tuesday, the agency disclosed that its Ejigbo Station received a distress call about a trapped individual in the Ikotun area of the state.
The rescue team quickly mobilized and arrived at the scene to commence the operation. Upon arrival, it was discovered that the man had become stuck while working inside a well estimated to be about 80 feet deep.
It said the well is located behind a bungalow containing eight rooms on a property measuring approximately 648 square metres.
According to the Fire Service, the firefighters were able to pull the man out alive after several coordinated efforts.

Prior findings by the rescue team suggested that the incident may have been caused by negligence during the hazardous job, the agency said.
Following the development, the Director of the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service, Margaret Adeseye, advised the public to notify the agency promptly when engaging in hazardous tasks.
Adeseye noted that this would allow for proper safety measures and standby support to prevent avoidable accidents.
The rescued man was handed over to his family and is in stable condition. The agency urged Lagosians to prioritize safety.
