Troops of the Nigerian Army have intensified operations against crude oil theft across the Niger Delta, recording major successes that include the confiscation of over 32,000 litres of stolen petroleum products.
The troops also deactivated nine illegal refining sites, and arrested 69 suspects within two weeks, according to a statement was signed by the Acting Deputy Director, Army Public Relations, 6 Division, Lieutenant Colonel Danjuma Danjuma, on Sunday.
According to the statement, between August 11 and 24, 2025, joint operations by troops of 6 Division and other security agencies led to several interceptions in Delta, Rivers, Bayelsa, and Akwa Ibom states.
In Delta State, two trucks conveying over 15,000 litres of illegally refined diesel were intercepted in Sapele, while additional seizures were made in One Man Village and Nana Town in Warri North.

In Rivers State, troops dismantled illegal refining sites in Degema and Okrika, recovered over 7,000 litres of stolen products, and arrested three suspects.
Additional seizures included wooden boats loaded with stolen condensates in Omoku, and over 1,500 litres of products at Izuoma Community in Oyigbo.
Operations also uncovered illegal activities in Andoni and along the Imo River axis, where refining sites, boats, and equipment were destroyed.
In Bayelsa State, an illegal refining site at Biseni, in Yenagoa, was raided, leading to the discovery of two reservoirs containing more than 7,000 litres of crude.
Similarly, in Akwa Ibom, troops maintained dominance in the area, effectively restricting the activities of oil thieves.
The army said all arrested suspects had been handed over to appropriate security agencies for prosecution, while confiscated products were being managed in line with operational directives.
