An Iranian drone attack on an Abu Dhabi naval base hosting French forces caused a fire but no casualties, the UAE and France said Sunday, as Iran struck Gulf countries for a second day.

The Iranian drone and missile salvos were in retaliation for an ongoing wave of US and Israeli strikes on the Islamic republic that killed its supreme leader on Saturday.”Specialised teams responded today to an incident resulting from an attack by two Iranian drones on a warehouse at Al Salam Naval Base in Abu Dhabi. The attack caused a fire in two containers of general materials, but there were no casualties,” the Emirati defence ministry said.

The base, also known as Camp de la Paix, is Emirati, but hosts French forces at the UAE’s invitation.

“A hangar at our naval base… was hit in a drone attack targeting the port of Abu Dhabi,” French Defence Minister Catherine Vautrin posted on X, adding that the strike only caused limited damage, and no casualties.

“Our forces are on the highest state of alert in a situation that is changing by the hour,” she added.
