The Lagos State Police Command has dismissed reports of a planned cult-related clash in parts of the state, describing the claims as false and urging residents to remain calm.
In a statement issued on Monday by the Police Public Relations Officer, Abimbola Adebisi, the command addressed circulating messages alleging an imminent clash in areas including Shitta, Akerele, Itire/Aguda and Ishaga, reportedly in retaliation for an earlier incident.
The police said proactive measures had already been taken to prevent any breakdown of law and order.
According to the statement, personnel and operational assets were promptly deployed to the affected locations and surrounding communities following the initial reports.

The Commissioner of Police, Tijani Fatai, has ordered intensified patrols, strategic positioning of officers and increased visibility across identified flashpoints to ensure the safety of lives and property.
“The areas are well secured, and adequate security coverage has been put in place to deter any unlawful gatherings or activities,” the statement said.
The Command reassured residents that there was no cause for alarm and encouraged them to go about their lawful activities without fear, noting that security agencies remain fully on the ground to maintain peace and order.
While acknowledging public concerns, the police advised residents to disregard unverified rumours capable of causing panic and to rely only on credible information from official sources.
Residents were also urged to remain vigilant and report any suspicious movements or activities to the nearest police station or through the command’s emergency lines.
