The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has released the results of the 2026 Mock Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME), conducted on Saturday.

In a statement issued on Monday, the Registrar, Ishaq Olanrewaju Oloyede, confirmed that candidates can access their results via SMS.

According to the board, “Candidates can check their results by sending MOCKRESULT via SMS to 55019 or 66019, using the same phone number (SIM) used during registration for the 2026 UTME.”

JAMB disclosed that a total of 224,597 candidates registered for the mock examination, out of which 152,586 successfully sat for the test.

The exercise was conducted across 989 Computer-Based Test (CBT) centres nationwide.

The board also revealed that more than 20 CBT centres have been delisted following technical challenges experienced during the examination.

It noted that the affected centres failed to meet required operational standards.

JAMB further warned candidates against falling victim to fraudulent individuals or groups, particularly on social media platforms, who claim to facilitate score manipulation.

The statement read, “Candidates are strongly advised to beware of fraudulent individuals or groups, particularly on WhatsApp, claiming to facilitate score inflation. Such claims are false and criminal.”

It added that any candidate found to have engaged in such activities would have their registration cancelled, while results could be withheld or withdrawn where infractions are discovered after the examination.

The board reiterated that the mock examination is primarily designed to test candidates’ preparedness and familiarise them with the CBT environment, noting that scores obtained do not count towards the main UTME.

JAMB also confirmed that the 2026 UTME is scheduled to commence on Thursday, April 16, 2026, urging candidates to use insights gained from the mock exercise to improve their performance in the main examination.

In 2025, JAMB faced major backlash after technical glitches in 157 exam centres caused thousands of candidates to receive low scores. Over 1.5 million out of 1.9 million candidates scored below 200, sparking widespread complaints about system crashes and incomplete questions.

Nearly 380,000 candidates were scheduled for a retake. A special committee uncovered technology-driven malpractice involving biometric manipulation and AI image morphing, leading to the cancellation of over 6,300 results.

Public outrage, including social media protests and legal threats, demanded a review and the resignation of the JAMB Registrar.

Following the 2025 UTME, groups like the South East House of Reps caucus, NANS, and activists demanded Professor Oloyede’s resignation.

They blamed him for massive technical failures and score errors that affected nearly 400,000 students. Oloyede took responsibility and even cried during a public apology. JAMB also maintained that the results accurately reflected candidates’ abilities and the effectiveness of their anti-cheating measures.
