Supporters of the former Jigawa State Governor, Lamido Sule, who was arraigned by the Police, have protested against the ruling by the Dutse Magistrate Court, that Mr Lamido be remanded in prison custody until May 4.
The protest took place despite heavy presence of security operatives and the Police were forced to use tear gas as a means of dispersing the crowd.
Mr Lamido was allegedly inciting his supporters to cause mayhem during the Local Government Election scheduled for July 1.
He was arrested on Sunday and his houses in Kano and Jigawa were searched. Thereafter, he was brought to Jigawa on Tuesday morning.
