In a strategic move towards food security and rural empowerment, NNPC Foundation has flagged off a nationwide agricultural training programme designed to empower 6,000 vulnerable farmers across the six geopolitical zones with modern farming techniques.
The move is part of its corporate social responsibility arm of NNPC Limited.
The inaugural ceremony, held in Enugu State, one of the training locations, saw 1,000 smallholder farmers drawn from the five states of the South-East geopolitical zone benefiting from the scheme.
The training was officially opened by the Executive Governor of Enugu State, Dr. Peter Mbah, who was represented by the Honourable Commissioner for Agriculture and Agro-Industrialisation, Hon. Patrick Ubru.
