Family Of Kidnapped Kwara State APC Chairman Seeks Intervention

APC, PetroleumThe family members of the kidnapped Chairman of the All Progressive Congress (APC) in Kwara State have appealed to the Inspector General of Police to put machinery in motion for the quick release of the party’s chairman and the secretary.

A spokesman for the APC in Kwara, Sulyman Buhari, said that the abduction took place on Friday along Lokoja road while the two men, Balogun Fulani-Ishola and Olabode Adekanye, were returning to Ilorin from Abuja.

He told reporters that the driver of the vehicle escaped when they were taken to a bush.

While the family explained that no ransom had been demanded, they, however, expressed hopes that with the intervention of the state Governor, the men would soon regain freedom.

At the house of the abducted state chairman in Jabata, Mr Jabata,relatives were seen discussing the issue in groups while his wife, Fatima Balogun-Fulani, was surrounded by friends and relatives.

Speaking in Yoruba language and sobbing, she pleaded for the release of her husband, adding that his absence was already being felt.

The first son of the party’s chairman, Abubakar Balogun-Fulani, explained that several meetings had been held with state government officials on the issue.

Although he said no ransom had been demanded, he noted that the police authority in Kogi State, where the incident happened, had been contacted.

He expressed hopes that their efforts would yield positive result soon.

The Kwara State government in a statement by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Abdulwahab Oba, described the incident as unfortunate and plead for early release of the two men.

APC Chairman, Secretary In Kwara State Kidnapped

The spokesman for the party in the state, Sulyman Buhari, confirmed their kidnap on Friday.

He said the party leaders were taking in the morning at Abuja-Lokoja highway while returning to Ilorin from Abuja.

Meanwhile, the APC in Kwara has appealed to the Inspector General of Police, Mr Solomon Arase, to free party chair and secretary from kidnapper’s den.

The party also urged other security agencies in the country to deploy all within their powers to ensure the duo were freed unhurt and reunited with their families and loved ones as swift as possible.

Their abduction is coming few days after a chieftain of the APC and a onetime Senator, Mrs Iyabo Anisulowo, was been rescued from her abductors.

Senator Anisulowo, who represented Ogun West Senatorial district between 2003-2007 at the Senate, was kidnapped alongside her security aide in Igbogila area of Ogun state.

Kwara APC Says Mrs Saraki’s Invitation By EFCC Is Political

SarakiThe Kwara State Chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has described the invitation of the wife of the Senate President, Mrs Toyin Saraki, by the Economic and Financial Crimes Comission (EFCC) as politically motivated.

They claimed that the invitation was made in order to ruffle her husband.

While addressing Journalists on Monday, the state Chairman of the party, Balogun Fulani Ishola, wondered why the invitation was not done nearly five years after her husband had finished his tenure as the Governor of Kwara State.

‘Selective Justice’

Mr Ishola urged the anti-graft body to come out clean and not mix the crisis at the National Assembly, involving her husband, with her personal life.

The State’s APC said that it took the intervention of elders of the party to stop the women in the state from expressing their anger over what they termed ‘selective justice’.

However, Senators of a group called ‘Like Minds’ in a statement signed by Senator Dino Melaye, said although they did not want to make any hasty conclusion, they were surprised that about five years after Senator Saraki left the Kwara State Government House, the EFCC suddenly realised the need to invite the wife for questioning.

They urged the Commission to perform its lawful duties without any form of external control.

APC Says PDP Planning To Unleash Terror In Kwara

Yobe apcThe All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kwara State has accused the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) of planning to unleash terror in the state.

Addressing reporters on Monday, the APC said the PDP was ‘fanning embers of crisis’ in the state, after it set up a War Committee.

The claims by the APC is the latest in the recent war of words between both parties in the state.

The Chairman of the APC, Balogun Fulani Ishola, told reporters that the  leadership of the PDP in the state had set up a 21-Man War Committee to unleash terror in the state.

Mr Balogun said that with the setting up of the committee, the PDP had declared war. According to him, the state has been witnessing political crisis since the committee was established.

However, in response to the APC’s claims, the state Chairman of the PDP, Iyiola Oyedepo, denied the accusation.

Mr Oyedepo said that the usage of the War Committee was symbolic to enable the party monitor the activities of another strategic committee set up for the elections and to make them see the importance of the task ahead.

PDP Denies Presidential Ambition Of Governor Aliyu

The Niger state chapter of the People’s Democratic Party, (PDP) has denied the reported presidential ambition of the state governor, Dr Muazu Babangida Aliyu, explaining that he is presently focusing on the deliverance of dividends of democracy to the people of the state.

The state chairman of the party, Dr Mahmud Abdulrahman made the clarification in Ilorin while on a courtesy visit to the state executive members of the party.

According to the party leader, the Niger state governor is for now concentrating on how to make life meaningful for the people of the state and he appealed to journalists in the country to avoid reports that could lead to chaos and crisis but rather those that would enhance economic development of the country.

The party, he noted has rules and regulations guiding its activities, adding that the right aspirants and candidates for the party will emerge at the right time.

The Kwara state chairman of the PDP, Balogun Fulani Ishola also urged journalists to shun sensational reports and focus on what could enhance peace and harmony in the country.

Dr Aliyu will be concluding his second term as a serving Governor and he is primed as one of the northern governors that might challenge President Goodluck Jonathan for the 2015 Presidential election.
