Troops Capture 14 Terrorists, Gun Trucks In Chikun Gudu

troopsTroops of Eight Task Force Division, Nigerian Army, on clearance operations under the auspices of Operation LAFIYA DOLE in Northeast Nigeria had an encounter with Boko Haram terrorists at Chikun Gudu.

During the encounter in northern part of Borno State, the gallant troops neutralised quite a number of the terrorists, while others escaped with gunshot wounds.

According to a statement issued on Saturday by spokesman for the Army, Brigadier General Sani Usman, the troops also captured gun trucks, arms and ammunition, as well as 14 terrorists.

“The troops captured two Toyota Gun trucks stolen from Niger Republic Defence Forces, two Toyota Hilux Gun trucks, one of which was taken by the Boko Haram terrorists from 153 Task Force Battalion location sometime back, a 25 HP Yamaha Outboard Engine, two solar panels and five empty Belts of Anti-Aircraft Guns ammunition links.

“Others include one Gun bipod, 12 pairs of Boko Haram fighters’ uniform, five flags, 37 rounds of 7.62mm (NATO) ammunition, 84 copies of Holy Quran and 270 books on Islamic literature.

“The troops also recovered and destroyed over 70 motorcycles used by the terrorists to launch attacks, three shops stocked with medical supplies, three other shops with provisions and three wooden boats.

“They also recovered two Niger Republic Drivers’ Licenses, two mobile telephone handsets and two Wooden Slates,” the statement read.

The statement also revealed that four of soldiers were wounded and have been evacuated to a medical facility where they are receiving treatment.

Troops Rescue Women, Children From Boko Haram In ‘Operation Hard Knock’

rescued women and children from boko haram The troops of Eight Task Force Division on Tuesday rescued women and children in an operation code-named ‘Operation Hard Knock’ in Borno State launched to clear pockets of Boko Haram terrorists hiding in remote areas.

The captives – 19 women and 19 children – were rescued in northern Borno State, along Nigeria-Niger borders.

As the operation progresses, troops cleared pockets of insurgents from their hideouts in Momo and Tunshe villages around Marte general area Borno State.

The women and children were held hostage in Dumba village by the terrorists.

During the rescue operation, the troops killed six Boko Haram insurgents while others fled with gunshot wounds leaving behind 22 motorcycles, flags and other items.

Earlier, troops of Operation Lafiya Dole deployed at a checkpoint in Gubio, Gubio Local Government Area of Borno State foiled a suicide attack on Gubio town by eight Boko Haram terrorists.

The incident occurred at about 9.15AM on Tuesday morning.

The suicide bombers arrived in a pickup vehicle primed with Improvised Explosive Devices including suicide vests.

They attempted to force their way through the checkpoint but met stiff resistance from troops who insisted that the vehicle be thoroughly checked.

The suicide bombers refused and blew up themselves by detonating one of the suicide vests killing all the eight Boko Haram terrorists on board.

Troops Avert Bomb Attack On IDPs In Monguno

Troops, IDPs, Army, Monguno, BornoTroops of the Nigerian Army have thwarted a suicide bomb attack on some Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) in Borno State, northeast Nigeria.

A statement by the Army spokesman, Colonel Sani Usman, said the incident occurred at about 6:15am on Monday.

Colonel Usman explained that three female Boko Haram terrorists attempted to attack the IDPs while they were fetching water at a borehole located about three kilometres in the outskirt of Monguno town along Marte Road.

He said that the vigilant troops detected and killed the two terrorists instantly, but the explosive they were strapped with exploded and injured two civilians nearby.

The Army spokesman added that the third suicide bomber, who followed a different route, detonated hers some distance before troops’ deployment situated along the same road at about 7:10 am.

He further stated that the injured civilians have been evacuated and were receiving medical attention at the 8th Task Force Division’s medical facility.

Troops have cordoned off the general area and imposed restriction of movement into Monguno to make the area safe.
