The peaceful protest organised by the group was part of a worldwide movement demanding the release of over 200 school girls abducted in Borno State.
As early as 8:00am, members of the various women associations in Kwara converged at the secretariat of the Nigerian Union of Journalists to commence the nearly four kilometer walk to the Government House.
Their aim was to demand a quick intervention of the Federal Government for the release of the abducted girls.
The women later moved into separate religious groups to offer prayers before commencing when words filtered in that the protest had been suspended.
The arrival of the State Commissioner of Police at the venue, however, restored the confidence of the women as the police boss promised not to disrupt but to protect them against the protest being hijacked by hoodlums.
The women protesters then moved to government house where they presented a letter to the state deputy governor on the need for governments at all levels to expedite action on the quick release of the abducted girls.
The Deputy Governor, Peter Kishira, who received them, commended the peaceful conduct of the women, adding that the Federal and State governments would do everything possible to ensure the safety release of the abducted girls.
