Anti-Counterfeiting Collaboration, (ACC) NigeriaThe Anti-Counterfeiting Collaboration (ACC) Nigeria, is a non-political, non-governmental, not-for-profit coalition,  formed in October 2006 as an advocacy group to assist in reforming Intellectual Property Laws in Nigeria.

The aim of the ACC is to bring brand owners, regulatory agencies, interested parties and the public together in order to fight counterfeiting, infringement and piracy in Nigeria.

The adverse effect that counterfeiting and piracy have on our economy, on Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) and other commercial opportunities cannot be over emphasised. It is for this reason that ACC is advocating a reform of the Intellectual Property Laws in Nigeria as one of its main objectives for this year. ACC is pushing for the passing of the Intellectual Property Bill (IPCOM Bill) which has been pending for more than 10 years now.

ACC is made up of Brand Owners (e.g. Unilever, GSK, BAT etc.), Legal Practitioners (e.g. Banwo & Ighodalo, Aluko & Oyebode, Olajide Oyewole LLP etc.) and relevant Regulatory Bodies (e.g. SON, NAFDAC etc.) amongst other stakeholders. ACC is headed by representatives of five Brand Owners in Nigeria, Unilever as Chairman, GlaxoSmithKline, British American Tobacco, Guinness/Diageo and Pfizer as members of its board of trustees. ACC has its secretariat in the Law Firm of Aluko & Oyebode.

Activities of ACC include annual Round-table talks in Collaboration with the International Trademark Association (INTA). Public awareness campaigns such as WALK THE TALK Campaign in 2012, Anti-Malaria Campaign organized in 2013/14 sponsored by the US Consulate as well as the World Anti-Counterfeiting Day Campaign carried out yearly. For more activities and other information on ACC, please visit the ACC website at www.anticounterfeiting.co.ng.

Membership of the ACC is open to all interested parties, including brand owners, government agencies and law enforcement agencies within Nigeria, as well as any other party involved with anti-counterfeiting, infringement and piracy matters.
