The leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has zoned its chairmanship position to the North East.
The Zoning Committee of the Party submitted their zoning recommendations to the party’s National Working Committee at a closed door meeting of the party’s leadership in Abuja.
Addressing journalists after the meeting, the current National Chairman, Sen. Ali Modu Sheriff, said all recommendations by the Zoning Committee, including that of the chairmanship position to the North East, have been approved by the National Executive Committee of the party.
Sen. Sheriff, who is from the North East, however declined comments on whether or not he will contest for the chairmanship position during the party’s National Convention next month.
